Advanced Review Copies.
I’ve seen posts all over my social media feeds about advanced copies of books going out and wondered. How do you make them, how do you send them, and more importantly who gets them?
I’ve been struggling with finding ways to get reviewers for my books. I admit with the first one I just assumed it would pop up on someone’s radar in the Kindle bookstore and somehow magically I would get readers.
I’ve had a few sales and a bunch of downloads when I offered it free for 48 hours and I’m happy about those organic views because they’re all strangers.
But I know from watching podcasts and Facebook groups that I should be doing more. I’m not quite ready to set up a newsletter so how do you get reviewers? I stumbled across Booksprout. They help link authors with reviewers. I thought about it for weeks. Read some recommendations and decided to try it.
I completed the edit on my current WIP and uploaded it to the website. So far I’ve had 7 of the 20 allowable downloads and hope to get honest feedback.
What types of things have you done to generate authentic reviews? What worked or didn’t work?
XoXo
